A week on and still QCA2 won’t compile

The headline says it all. I spent way too long last week trying to get QCA2 to compile, I still haven't found the error but I suspect it's a problem with my qmake (the Makefiles are not correct). I decided not to continue the torture into the weekend so instead did some reading on Bonjour [...]

SOC Progress

So, just at the end of a bank holiday. I didn't get as much done as I'd have hoped but I needed to rest from just having finished exams!
Set up my linux box perfectly for development and got the psi sources and compiled it. Then tried playing around with eclipse to build it and after [...]

Summer of code day 2

And no, I'm not going to continue numbering the days.
So I finally just got my tax form sent to Google, and all it required was running all around campus to use a printer in one lab and then to find a scanner in another. But it's all done with now.
I also went and collected my [...]

Starting summer of code - not good first day

So I've just been looking around today and I discover this: http://www.porchdogsoft.com/products/howl/ -howl is dead.
So I need to reconsider and talk to my mentor about what to go with at this stage for the mDNS implementation. Avahi is not multiplatform and Bonjour is licensed under the "Apple Public Source LIcense", which I'm skeptical about but [...]

Summer of code

So I got accepted for Google summer of code!
It'll be nice working with all the Jabber guys; but first I need to finish my exams. Two down already, but four more to go!

When you Google too much

This is what happens when you constantly google (yes I'm using it as a verb):

It's like an impulse to use google now. As soon as I open a tab in Firefox I can feel my fingers typing in that familar collection of g's, o's, l and e.

Python and windows

It's a shame the following doesn't just work:
import win32gui
import win32api
import win32con
import struct
msnui = win32gui.FindWindowEx(0, 0, "MsnMsgrUIManager", "&quot
msndata = struct.pack('L6sB',0×547,"python",6)
win32api.SendMessage(msnui, win32con.WM_COPYDATA, 0, msndata)
Instead it seems I'll need to get the ctypes foreign module and use ARRAY and POINTER to supply arguments to the function just like you would in C. Though I'll dig deeper….
Oh, what [...]

Summer of code

I plan to hopefully take part in the Google summer of code. I want to work on implementing zeroconf networking and the link-local messaging protocol in the Psi Jabber client.
Update: Got it!

Busy days

For ye who were wondering where I've been and been doing. It's mostly working on assignments. (Well for the last week anyway). I'm looking at Google calendar here and I'm not sure if I can get them all done and still have time to study. Other than that, I haven't much news to report.  I've [...]

Scientology

Just watched the banned episode of South Park that slams Scientology. It was class. The things they believe in…
